Privacy Policy

Effective September 7, 2026. Last updated September 7, 2026.

CaseSteps is operated by Veritas Justice Reform, a for-profit business. CaseSteps is not a law firm, nonprofit organization or government agency.

Public tools

  • Public visitors do not need an account.
  • Everything you enter into a roadmap, organizer or worksheet stays in the page during your current browser session. It is not transmitted to CaseSteps, not saved to an account, and not stored in your browser between visits.
  • Question-library search text stays on the page. It is not sent to an AI service, not stored in a database, and not placed in the web address.
  • Clearing the session, refreshing the page or closing it removes session-only organizer information, as currently implemented.
  • Organizer entries never travel with a feedback submission.

Feedback

CaseSteps does not ask for your identity or case information with feedback. Do not enter names, case numbers, addresses, dates, medical details, identification numbers, or confidential communications. Automated checks may detect some obvious identifiers, but they cannot identify every kind of private information.

Helpfulness rating

  • A “Was this helpful?” answer sends the rating, an optional reason chosen from a fixed list, the public page title and the clean public page path.
  • No free text about your case is collected with a rating.

Written suggestions

  • A written suggestion may include your message, the chosen category, the public page title and the clean public page path.
  • No name or email address is requested.
  • Written suggestions are temporarily closed on the public site while live abuse-protection keys are being put in place. They are not currently accepted there.
  • Submissions are not public, and are used to improve CaseSteps.
  • Submitting feedback does not create an attorney-client relationship.
  • Feedback is not privileged and is not confidential.

Retention

Declined feedback may be deleted after 180 days. Implemented feedback may be deleted 180 days after implementation. Feedback that has not been reviewed is flagged after 90 days. Nothing is kept indefinitely without a defined reason.

Abuse protection and hosting

Abuse-protection and hosting providers may process routine technical information, such as IP address, browser information and request time, for a short period to block automated misuse and to operate the site. That information is not added to a feedback record and is not used for marketing, profiling or advertising.

Restricted accounts

Public visitors do not need or receive accounts. CaseSteps maintains restricted administrator and invited-reviewer accounts for site maintenance and editorial review.

Those restricted accounts may involve:

  • Email address
  • Authentication and multifactor-enrollment records
  • Assigned role
  • Review assignments
  • Editorial notes and review history
  • Security and sign-in records

This information is private and is used only to operate and secure the review system.

No payments and no accounts

CaseSteps is currently free. There is no CaseSteps checkout, no payment processor is connected, and CaseSteps does not sell access to its educational readings or organizers. CaseSteps does not process payments and does not collect payment information. You do not need an account to read public materials or to use the organizers.

Organizer entries stay in your current browser session. Printing an organizer or saving it as a PDF is performed by your own device, and CaseSteps does not transmit an organizer to an attorney or to anyone else. Book links point to Amazon; any purchase happens on Amazon under Amazon’s own terms, and the links contain no CaseSteps affiliate or tracking code.

Categories of information

  • Feedback content: your message or rating, the public page title, and the clean public page path.
  • Restricted account information: the categories listed under Restricted accounts.
  • Routine technical information processed by hosting and abuse-protection providers, such as IP address, browser information and request time.
  • Session-only information that stays in your browser and is never transmitted: organizer, roadmap and worksheet entries, and search text.

Service providers

Limited information is received by the providers that make the site work: the website host, the backend and authentication provider that stores feedback and restricted account records, and the abuse-protection provider that screens automated submissions. They may use it only to provide those services.

No sale, sharing or advertising tracking

  • CaseSteps does not sell personal information and does not share it for advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • CaseSteps does not use advertising trackers and does not track visitors across other websites.
  • CaseSteps does not knowingly allow other parties to collect personal information about visitors across different websites through this site.
  • Do Not Track: browsers may send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common standard for responding to it, and CaseSteps does not respond to it separately, because CaseSteps does not perform cross-site behavioral tracking in the first place.
  • Regardless of whether a particular California privacy statute applies to CaseSteps, we do not sell or share personal information for advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising. Privacy requests may be sent to veritasjusticereform@proton.me.

Removal or correction

If you believe you submitted identifiable information through feedback, you may ask for it to be removed or corrected by writing to veritasjusticereform@proton.me. Describe the public page and roughly when you wrote, so the record can be located. Do not resend the private details in your request. Because feedback carries no name or email address, a request cannot always be matched to a specific submission.

Logs

CaseSteps does not intentionally write feedback message text, organizer entries, sign-in passwords, security-check tokens, or internal review notes into server or error logs. Ordinary infrastructure logs kept by hosting and security providers may still record routine request information for a limited time, so submissions are not described as completely anonymous.

Sharing a page

Sharing a page sends only a neutral sentence and the clean public link. CaseSteps does not record who shared, which visitor shared, who received it, or anything you entered.

Children

CaseSteps is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and CaseSteps does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes materially, the effective and last-updated dates above are revised and a notice is posted on this page describing the change.
